IFMA Interview for B.O.S.S. Furnishings, Inc.
What is your background?
I have been with B.O.S.S. Furnishings, Inc. since January of this year. I have 10 years experience in conducting business with facility managers in DFW. I have 10 years experience in sales, project management, design, and installation of office furniture and other related products and services.
What is your role at your company?
My role with B.O.S.S. Furnishings, Inc. is defined as Director of Marketing and Sales. My role also includes design and project management on special projects. What do your responsibilities include at your company? My number one focus is educating and assisting customers with the highest level of service in the industry. I work diligently to be considered a consultant for each client. I am tasked with delivering budgeted revenue requirements for the company. Other duties include training and supporting salespeople and contractors. I am responsible for developing and maintaining our vendor relationships. I frequently am the lead designer on projects, and work with interior architects on new construction projects.
What are some of your goals and accomplishments, personal information schools you attended, awards you won, etc?
My first and most important goal is to be recognized within the office furniture industry as a leader in customer service and an expert amongst my peers. I am looking to redefine the office furniture industry and companies look at office furniture acquisition and other capital acquisitions in a new and different way. I graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. I was fortunate enough to earn a Division I football scholarship to the University of Houston. I was honored to be considered as a candidate for “Rookie of the year” in IFMA in 2007. I have been fortunate thus far to have accomplished certain personal career goals.
What are some of your personal interests and hobbies?
I love to play golf. I was scratch for a period of time back in 2006. Now I’m playing to a 4. I’ve competed and qualified for professional long driving contests in several countries around the world. I’ve been involved previously in Stevie Ray Vaughan cover bands playing guitar and being involved in the local music scene. I enjoy extending guitar lessons to friends, family, and business contacts, and I personally enjoy playing nearly every day.
What other organizations are you involved in?
I am involved as a member/sponsor/speaker at the USGBC N. Texas Chapter.
Why did you join IFMA and what do you hope to achieve being a member?
I joined IFMA to expand my own education and learn about all the facets the FM does on a daily basis. I also joined IFMA to help smaller businesses who are not able to have a full time FM and pass on what I learn from being a member. Also, I joined in hopes that IFMA will help me access vertical marketing partners for continuing education and help lead our business to more opportunities including educational opportunities in the DFW marketplace.
